BestShot 2.3: "Hey BestShot" voice commands

New

  • "Hey BestShot": say "Hey BestShot, take a screenshot", "record the screen", "start meeting notes" or "stop". Captures start after a 3-second countdown you can cancel by saying "cancel". Off until you turn it on in Settings → Voice. Listening stays on your computer and no audio is saved.
  • Your own wake phrase: Hey BestShot, OK BestShot, Hey Shot, or type your own.
  • Write with Claude Code or Codex: if you have either app, Write can use your own subscription for messages and rewrites.
  • Write remembers: say "remember that Jim prefers short emails" and it's used the next time you write to Jim.
  • Write and Obsidian (optional): Write can pull in your notes about the person or project you mention. Read only.

Fixed

  • Meeting notes no longer count as screen recording on Mac, so Netflix and other protected videos keep playing during calls.
  • No more crash when quitting on Mac.

Windows

  • Same features as Mac, with Windows shortcuts. AI tools can read your meetings and guides but can't control the running app yet.

BestShot 2.2: Write, a full editor and import

New

  • Write: hold fn + Control on Mac (Win + Ctrl on Windows), speak, and BestShot writes it in your style and pastes it where you're typing. Ask it to draft a whole message ("tell Reggie his game is working"). A card lets you insert, copy, rewrite, or make it shorter or friendlier.
  • Full editor: open any recording in a multitrack editor that looks exactly like your preview, then export a new copy. Your original is never changed.
  • Import: bring in videos, images and audio from the Import button, the File menu (⌘I or Ctrl+I) or by dragging files onto the window.
  • Watch shots in your library: shots you've shared on Watch show up in BestShot, ready to download to this computer.
  • Transcripts on Watch: your edited captions show in the Watch page's Transcript tab, with timestamps you can click.
  • Details for recordings: change the title, description and who can watch without re-rendering.

Fixed

  • Meetings longer than about an hour and a half play again.

Improved

  • Grey and disabled buttons are easier to read in both light and dark mode.
  • Meeting audio takes about a quarter of the space, so shares upload faster.

BestShot 2.1: one window, guides and Windows

New

  • BestShot for Windows: the same app on 64-bit Windows, with Windows shortcuts and wording.
  • One main window: a sidebar for Home, Recordings, Screenshots, Meetings, Guides and Settings, with everything you open as a tab. Pop a tab out to work side by side.
  • Guides: turn a recording into a step-by-step guide, one step per click, with screenshots, suggested blurs for private details, and export to Markdown, HTML, PDF, Word or Google Drive. Share a guide as a Watch link.
  • AI tools connection: Claude, Codex and other AI tools can read and control BestShot, with access levels you choose and a confirm card before any capture.
  • Local notetaker (beta): BestShot can join a Google Meet, Zoom or Teams call as a guest and take notes.
  • Your own wallpapers as recording and screenshot backgrounds.

Improved

  • Shortcuts start captures straight away, and BestShot's windows stay out of the way while you pick an area.

Fixed

  • Old screenshot windows reappearing, Help & Tour doing nothing, and the notetaker recording silence.
